I rolled the long piece of fondant (hair) around a piece of craft wire to give it support so it would not break off from the weight. I just used the recipe from the box and shaped the tower pieces once the cereal was cool enough to hold the shape. I started by making the tower of rice krispie treats. My solution was to print out a picture of Rapunzel and to press it into a piece of fondant molded to look like her hair. This is one of my favorite cakes because I had the chance to play around with all sorts of new techniques. I just don't like making fondant models and I really wanted it to look like Rapunzel. The biggest challenge for me came when it was time to make Rapunzel. I used green fondant to cover the board for the base of the tower and white fondant to make up the partial plastering effect on the walls of the tower and piped buttercream vines and flowers trailing up the tower. I also used Rice Krispie Treats to form the roof of the House. Rapunzel’s underskirt has a lot of detailing in it so I decided to roll the fondant out onto an impression mat and then used that to cover the cake As you cover a cake the fondant tends to stretch a bit so to keep the details I just focused on keeping one section pretty, the rest I didn’t mind if the impression got stretched and warped. For Rapunzels hair, I tinted some frosting with golden yellow gel-based food coloring, and then used a star tip to pipe her long hair down and around the side of the cake. I used Rice Krispie Treats tinted a stone colour with a little food colouring and built them up around the centre of the stand to make up the tower. I used a 10in Round Cake for the House part of the tower. The animation probably has to be the most exciting one, as it's Disney's first computer-animated princess movie.Once you have your stand the rest if realtively easy.
